The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) is a proactive organization advocating for resident doctors' welfare, professional development, and improved working conditions. As one of the earliest unions in Nigeria's North East, ARD UMTH has grown to be a strong, influential body. It has produced notable leaders, including UMTH's Chief Medical Director and the Nigerian Medical Association’s President. ARD UMTH promotes continuous education, research, and healthcare outreach, while actively engaging hospital management to enhance doctor welfare and patient care. Its legacy of leadership and advocacy continues to shape healthcare policies.
